1. How long has SRES been in business?
A: SRES was formed in 1999.
2. Why does SRES use the Monosem planter for a base planter?
A: Monosem is known world wide for its precision seed spacing. Monosem is also known world wide for its ability to pick up one seed at a time regardless of seed size and shape.
3. Can I plant crops other than corn?
A: Yes, Monosems motto is "If its a seed, we can plant it." Monosem has over 200 different seed plates and we can make special plates for special needs. Monosem planters are used to plant anything from peanuts down to seeds as small as a carrot seed.
4. What is the difference between the Advanced and Classic Series of planters?
A: See: Comparison Page for details.
5. Can I change populations from plot to plot?
A: The Advanced series planter can change population from plot to plot without stopping. To change population on the Classic planter, the operator must change sprockets.
6. Is it possible to set the planter settings before going to the field?
A: The Advanced series planter can be set almost completely before going to the field. The Classic series planter needs to be set once you have ground to try it on.
7. What is the patented design?
A: Basically the patent is 2 different plots on a single seed plate at the same time.
8. Can I use one plate to plant all plots?
A: Yes and No. If you are planting one type of seed you can use the same seed plate. In other words, if you are planting corn plots you use the same seed plate for all of your plots. If you are planting different types of seed like corn plots and tomato plots then the seed plate holes are sized to match seed size, i.e. a tomato seed would use a smaller hole than a corn seed. The number of holes in the seed plate are matched to the desired population and planting speed. The optimum rpm of the seed plate is between 10 and 30.
9. Where can I get parts for my Monosem planter?
A: There are a number of dealers in the United States and abroad that parts may be purchased at. If there is not a dealer in your area, the Monosem factory for North America is located in Kansas City, Kansas. Any part can be shipped next day from SRES or from Kansas City.
